تلك هي (سولانج دي كليدا) تسمق من هذه الرواية لتكون واحدة من أبرز الشخصيات الروائية اللواتي خلّدهنّ التاريخ. إنها المرأة التي يحترق أبيقور وأفلاطون في شعلتها من الغموض الأنثوي الأبدي. وكما صاغ سيلفادور دالي (الكليدالية) من هذه الشخصية، تعبيراً عن اللذة والألم، صاغ من الحب والموت عالماً روائياً، كأنما يؤلف الأوبرا التي خطط لتأليفها هو وفيديريكو غارسيا لوركا، كلن لوركا (طار)، وحمل دالي العهد حتى أوفاه برؤية أوبرالية، يندمج فيها التشويش الإيديولجي والأساطير والشهوات والسموّ والوضاعة والوفاء.
الموضوع الرئيسي لهذه الرواية هو (الموت في الحب). ويقدم دالي فيها معالجة عصرية لأسطورة تريستاة وإيسولدة الخالدة، حيث لا شيء يعطي حدّة أكبر للحب من الموت الوشيك، ولا شيء يعطي حدّة أكثر للموت من عبوديته التي لا علاج لها للحب. لكن تمت في هذه الرواية موازنة موضوع الموت بنقيضه: القيامة. فبعثُ حياة جديدة من التفسّخ والدمار يستمرّ طوال الرواية، ورمزه الروائي من البداية هو غابة البلوط التي تنعم كل ربيع ببراعم خضراء مصفر
