يستعرض النص تطور الفكر الأرشيفي من خلال الموازنة بين نظريات إدارة الوثائق التقليدية والحديثة. ترتكز النظرية الكلاسيكية على دورة حياة الوثيقة المتمثلة في ثلاثة أعمار تبدأ من الاستخدام اليومي الجاري، مراراً بالمرحلة الوسيطة، وصولاً إلى الحفظ التاريخي الدائم. وفي المقابل، تبرز النظرية التواصليّة كنموذج متكامل يلغي الحواجز الزمنية بين هذه المراحل، مما يسهل التعامل مع الأرشيف الرقمي بمرونة أكبر. تكمن أهمية هذه المفاهيم في توجيه المتخصصين نحو الإدارة الفعالة للمعلومات، وضمان التعاون المستمر بين الجهة المُنتجة والمؤرشف. ويشدد المحتوى على ضرورة استيعاب كلا النهجين لضمان حفظ التراث الإداري والقانوني بكفاءة تتناسب مع المتطلبات التقنية المعاصرة.
