لعنوان المجموعة " نصف ضوء" دلالة عميقة على منهج عزة رشاد في التعامل مع مادتها الأدبية من دون أن تلقي"الضوء كاملا" على شخصياتها ومواضيعها ، لأن مقدار السماحة الفكرية والنفسية لدي الكاتبة لا يبيح لها فرض ما تراه أو شحن القارئ في اتجاه أو آخر ، مع اعتقادها بأن ما تراه هو الحقيقة! هكذا فعلت عزة رشاد في روايتها " ذاكرة التيه " حين تركت في نسيج العمل سؤالها مفتوحا عما اختطف إرادة وسعادة بطلتها ؟ هل هي التقاليد التي اعتدت على قدراتها لمجرد أنها امرأة ؟ أم أنه العدوان الخارجي الذي أجبر البطلة مع أسرتها على الهجرة من بورسعيد فحرمها من " البحر الذي كان لي "؟ أم هو العجز الذاتي عن التصدي الشجاع للمجتمع ؟. وفي قصة " في الليل لما خلي " من مجموعة " أحب نورا أكره نورهان " تحدث الشخصية الرئيسية نفسها " لست الحمل الذي يظنه الرجال وليسوا الذئاب التي أظنها ". هكذا تظل الحقيقة في عالم عزة رشاد عند الحد الفاصل بين نصفي الضوء ، ما بين" نعم" و"لا " ، ما بين " المحتمل " و " المؤكد "، ومن ثم تمتد أمام القارئ آفاق مفتوحة للتأمل والتردد والاختياروحب العمل الأدبي والتعاطف مع الحقيقة بما يشبه ملء إرادته !
في مجموعة " نصف ضوء " تقدم عزة رشاد إحدى عشرة قصة قصيرة مكتوبة بذات النفس الهادئ المتروي الذي يشبه أنفاس من يغرس شتلة ورد في يوم صاف.
