تدفع المرأة العربية النصيب الأكبر من متوالية القهر والظلم , فالحاكم ومعه أجهزته الأمنية ورجال الإعلام ورجال الدين يقهرون الشعب فيقهر الرجل امرأته والأب ابنته والأخ أخته ,والمجتمع يستمر ويستمر في قهر المرأة مرة بالقوانين ومرة بالدين ومرة بالمال ومرة بالاستباحة المعنوية الجسدية .
المرأة لا تدخل الجنة في نظرهم بصفتها امرأة أبدا, إما أن تكون أما أو زوجة رضي عنها زوجها ,أما غير ذلك لا مكان لها في ملكوت السماء إلا حورية يتمتع بها الرجل أيضا مكافأة له, فهي في العقل الجمعي المرتبط بالتراث ليست إنسانا كامل الأهلية, إنما تابعة للرجل لا يمكن أن تستقل وتفكر وتبدع وتعمل وتتعلم وتضيف للرجل وللحياة , بل هي لبيتها ولرجلها واستخدم الفقهاء لفظ امرأة فلان أو تحت فلان للتعبير عنها لا شخصية لها ,إنما هي تابع للرجل أي رجل غير مهم , المهم أن تكون تحت التبعية والوصاية .
الكتاب يناقش أحوال المرأة في الدول العربية من منظور اجتماعي وحقوقي ، من خلال عرض نماذج متنوعة لنساء عربيات في ظروف متباينة ومن خلفيات ثقافية وفكرية مختلفة .
