"يحاول الباحث دحض الفكرة المسيطرة على المنهج التأسيسي للفكر التجريبي في أن الغرب الأوروبي هو الذي سجل بداية حقيقية للمنهج العلمي المتمثل في المنهج التجريبي، فأرخ بذلك النهضة العلمية ليبين الحقيقة التي أكدها بعض المصنفين من الغربيين ممن أرخوا للبحث العلمي إلى دور المسلمين وما أسهموا به من إنجازات علمية، بعد أن مارسوا المنهج العلمي في بحوثهم العلمية المختلفة فحققوا الكثير من المنجزات في حقول علمية مختلفة.
والمؤلف يقف أمام هذه الدعوى العريضة حول حقيقة منهج الاستقراء وعلاقته بالفكر الإسلامي ليدلل بما توفر لديه في نصوص فكرية وآراء علمية، بأن الإسلاميين أول من مارس الاستقراء وطبقوه في حقول علمية مختلفة، وأدركوا طبيعة هذه المنهج ومتطلباته العلمية، حيث فصلوا لشروطه وقواعده، وناقشوا مشكلاته بأسلوب علمي دقيق، فخرجوا بنتائج سليمة عن طبيعة المنهج وحدوده العلمية في البحث. وضمن مناقشة هذه الموضوعات فقد انقسم البحث إلى تمهيد وسبعة فصول مع خاتمة."
