جاء أبي ذات يوم ليعلّمني السباحة. نزل الى النهر وحده. بأناقة أبعد أعشاباً طافية على الماء. تمدد على الموج محتفظاً بتوازنه، ورفع يديه مصفقاً بهما الهواء. "أرأيت؟ الأمر غاية في السهولة"، قال لي قبل أن يعاود الخروج الى اليابسة ويرتدي ملابسه ويعود الى البيت.
لم أتعلّم السباحة يومذاك. بيد أنني شهدت تظاهرة سحرية كان الوالد بطلها الوحيد. في براءته الشاسعة، لم يدرك أنني ما حفظت شيئاً. لا ولا عاين أنني ما نزلت الى الماء. لاحقاً سيحدثني الأصحاب عن متعة السباحة بمعيّة الأب، وعما فيها من حرج كبير. عندما يستقر الواحد منهم مثلاً على علباء أبيه ويتقدم الأب في عرض النهر، جارّاً ابنه كما يفعل دلفين.
