يضم المعجم الذي بين يديك ما يزيد عن 1800 لفظة كانت شائعة في ابي الخصيب، اندثر اغلبها ولا زال القليل منها متداولا بين الناس. ومن المؤكد إني لم أتمكن من تذكر كل الالفاظ القديمة ولكن ما أغفلته ليس بالكثير. ومعلوم أيضا ان الكلمات في اللهجة العراقية أو على الأقل في جنوب العراق تتشابه في اللفظ ولكنها قد تختلف في المعنى، ولهذا، وفي مواضع قليلة، اشرت الى هذا التباين عندما يقتضي الامر الاشارة. انني، في هذا الجهد، أتمنى ان أكون ساهمت، قدر استطاعتي، في حفظ تراث جميل لبلد مفعم بالأصالة، وغاية ما أتمنى ان يكون هذا العمل مفيدا للخصيبيين وغيرهم ممن يودون الاطلاع على لهجات بلدهم. وحسب علمي، لم يكتب أحد من ادباء ابي الخصيب في هذا الموضوع ولهذا فان نشر هذا المعجم يكتسب أهمية كبيرة كوثيقة هامة وسجل للماضي.
