في مجموعتها الشعرية "مسمار" بدت الشاعرة حكمت حسن ذات رؤية فريدة للألم الإنساني وماهيته وتجلياته، قوامها عبارات ذات حساسية مرهفة ملائمة لمفردات الحياة، وعبارات تستحضر المضمر، اللامرئي مما يعتمل الذات البشرية، وحروف تئن وتشتكي. ومن ذلك المسمار القاتل، وحكمت حسن تزداد حضوراً بمقدار وجع المسمار الذي غذا جزءاً من القلب "روح شهانه / رُجمت حتى الموت ..." وعند الشاعرة حكمت يصبح الوقوف على حافة الموت جزءاً من الحياة "الحذر على حافة الموت / أعتبره / ازددت حياة / ازدهرت موتاً / ليس ما أنا فيه / نصف حياة / أو نصف موت / إنه ما يجمعهما معاً.
أما الرجل فله حضوره في "مسمار" الشاعرة ، لأنه امتداد صميم لكينونة الحياة واستمرارها، فتبدو الكتابة عنه معراج الذات / الأنثى إلى عالم الآخر / الرجل. وفي شعرها يبتدئ آدم من عيني حواء. ثم يستقر في قلبها، ليصبح تتمة لها، إنها تكتمل به ويكتمل بها. تقول الشاعرة: "رأوك في عيني / وقلبي / هتفوا أكملي" لم تستطع أن تتوجد إلا بكامل حضوره في العين والقلب ما يعني أن التكامل هنا ضرورة عند المرأة وليس اختيار.
في القصيدة المعنونة (تكامل) تقول الشاعرة: "نصف دورة / وراقص / من يملأها؟ / فإذا غمر السواد الأفق / تأخذنا البعاد / بثبات / حيث المعنى واللا معنى / يتوجدان / كلّ في ذاته / وما بينهما / مادة تتحول إلى مادة".
هكذا تكتب الشاعرة حكمت حسن بدمعة مرة، وابتسامة مرة، بلغة واضحة، منمقة، بعيدة عن حشو المترادفات التي تعيق فهم المضمون وتخرجه بدون معنى ولا فائدة، لقد سخّرت شاعرتنا لغتها بما يخدم رسالتها الفكرية ويكرس جوهر الرسالة الشعرية ...
