امت محمد یہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم كا اعزاز وامتیاز ہےكہ حفاظت ِقرآن وسنت كے تكوینی فیصلے كی تكمیل وتعمیل اس كے علمائے محدثین كے ہاتھوں ہوئی۔ ائمہ محدثین نے مسانید، مصنفات، سنن، معاجم وغیرہ كی صورت میں مختلف موضوعات پر مجموعہ ہائے حدیث ترتیب دئیے۔ كسی نے احادیثِ احكام منتخب كیں تو كسی نے عمل الیوم واللیلہ ترتیب دیا۔ بہت سےعلماء نے الزہد والرقائق كے عنوان سے احادیث جمع كیں۔ تو كسی نے اذكار كا گلدستہ تیار كیا۔ یہ ایك طویل سلك مروارید ہے اور اسی سلك میں منسلك ایك نمایاں نام ’’ الترغیب والترہیب كا ہے۔ اس عنوان سے مختلف ائمہ نے كتابیں تالیف كیں، لیكن اس میں جو شہرت ومقبولیت ساتویں صدی ہجری كے مصری عالم دین امام منذری رحمہ اللہ كی تصنیف كو ملی وہ انہی كا حصہ ہے۔ یہ عظیم كتاب اپنی جامعیت، حسنِ ترتیب ،عناوین كے تنوع اور ان كی مناسبت سےمجموعہ احادیث كا ایك دائرۃ المعارف ہے۔ یہ كتاب چار ضخیم جلدوں پر مشتمل ہے۔ حافظ ابن حجر عسقلانی رحمہ اللہ نے اس كا اختصار كیا اور اختصار اس طرح كیا كہ اس كی جامعیت میں كمی نہیں آنے دی۔ زیرتبصرہ كتاب اسی اختصار كا اردو ترجمہ ہے۔ ترجمہ كی سعادت معروف عالم دین مترجم كتب كثیرہ جناب محمد خالد سیف حفظہ اللہ نےحاصل كی ہے۔ عام قارئین كی سہولت كے لیے مراجعت كرتے وقت محدث العصر علامہ ناصرالدین البانی رحمہ اللہ كی تعلیقات كی روشنی میں احادیث كی صحت وضعف كی طرف اشارہ كردیاگیا ہے۔ ترغیب وترہیب اور فضائل اعمال میں ضعیف احادیث كے بیان كےجواز اور عدم جواز كے متعلق شیخ الاسلام ابن تیمیہ رحمہ اللہ كے ایك مختصر بصیرت افروز كتابچہ كا ترجمہ بھی اس میں شامل اشاعت كردیا گیا ہے ۔اللہ تعالیٰ عامۃ المسلمین كے لیے اس كتاب كو مفید بنائے۔ آمین م۔ا
