مؤلف هذا الكتاب غير معروف ويرجح من الدراسة اللغوية ومن المضمون، أن المؤلفين عديدون. ويؤكد ذلك عنوان الكتاب الذي يشير إلى أنه مجموعة samhita من المؤلفات وأيضاً التفاوت الواضح في نوعية التعاليم التي تتراوح بين الروحانية السامية والترغيب في القدرات الخارقة والمكتسبات الدنيوية.
ويحتوي هذا النص الذي هو من المراجع القديمة للتنتريوغو tantra yogo، إحدى مدارس اليوغ، على العديد من التقنيات للخروج من عذاب حياة الدنيا ولتسهيل فهو طريقة الخروج هذه، وضع المؤلفون نصوصهم مجازاً على شكل حوار بين الرحمن shiva، أحد الثالثوت الهندوسي والغربي يعتبر معلم المعلمين، وبازفتي pravati، طاقته الإلهية وقدرته على وعي ذاته.
