يعد الحديث عن الحجاج اليوم، حديثا عن آليات جديدة، أخذت ميكانيزماتها من علوم متعددة المشارب والابستومولوجيات، فالحجاج الفلسفي غير الحجاج اللغوي، والحجاج البلاغي يختلف عن كليهما، لذلك جاء كتابنا هذا، ليحاول البحث عن مفهوم الحجاج، وما هي أهم المحطات التي مر بها، بدءا من نظرة أرسطو للمفهوم، ثم امتداده ليشمل البلاغة العربية ومختلف العلوم الكلامية الأخرى التي عرفها العرب قديما.
تطور مفهوم الحجاج في عصرنا الحالي، مع ظهور ما يسمى بالبلاغة الجديدة، مع شايم بيرلمان "Chaïm Perelman" وتيتكاه، ليتغير مفهومه، وتتغير الآليات التي كان يعتمدها الخطيب أو منتج الخطاب، قصد التأثير في السامع أو المتلقي كما انقسم – الحجاج- إلى حجاج بلاغي كما أسلفنا الذكر وحجاج آخر لغوي مع ديكرو"Ducrot" وصديقه وانسكومبر"Anscombre" ، فحجاج فلسفي مع تولمين ونظرية المساءلة لـ"ميشال مايير"Michel Mayer"وهذا ما سنروم طرحه محاولين قدر المستطاع تبسيط المفهوم وإيصاله إلى المتلقي في صورة ميسرة، علنا نحاول ولو بالقدر اليسير إضافة هذا الكتُيب إلى مصاف الكتب التي تناولت بالدرس والتمحيص النظرية الحجاجية المعاصرة، فإن وفقنا فبفضل الله تعالى وتوفيقه، وإن أخطأنا فلم نقصر ولكن حرمنا التوفيق.
