نا نلهو ونمرحُ في دار جدي الواسعة على ضفاف النيل، نعدو خلفَ الفراشاتِ، ونقذِفُ الحصى في قلب الماء النابض بالحياة والجمال .. في يومٍ لا يُمحى من ذاكرتي ونحن نلعبُ شعرتْ بوخزٍ في رأسها، سألتُها .. فاضت بعبير ابتسامتها صمتًا، وجهُها المُنير المُشرِق بدأ يخفُت .. انطلقوا بها في سيارة جارنا الأسطى عباس ذات ليلة ليلاء غاب فيها القمر واندثرت فيها النجوم . . صرختُ وارتميتُ على الأرض أتمرَّغ في التراب لكنهم لم يعيروا اهتمامًا لتوسلاتي كي أذهب معها إلى المستشفى، انتظرتُها تعود حتى غلبني النعاس بين أحضان جدتي .. استيقظتُ صباحًا لأرى نسوة يتشحن بالسواد والحزن يُعشش في أركان البيت .. جدتي ظلت تبكي في خفوت، ضمتني برفق، لكني تملصتُ منها، هرولتُ لأجد الرجال يجلسون بأسًى أمام الدار، أسألهم عن ابنة عمي حتى ضاق بي جدي يصيح منزعجًا ونظراته تشعُّ ألمًا: اسكت يا ولد .. أماني ماتت .. ولم أكن أعرف ماذا يعني الموتُ .. لكن عندما كبرتُ تعلمتُ أن الأموات لا يعودون .. ليتني ما كبرتُ!
