بين الظلام والنور: "ظاء" ترمز للظلام، و"نون" ترمز للنور، فيكون المعنى رحلة الإنسان بين العتمة والضياء، بين اليأس والأمل.
بين الظن واليقين: "ظاء" من "الظن"، و"نون" من "اليقين"، أي التردد بين الشك والثقة، وهي حالة نفسية يعيشها الكاتب أو القارئ أو حتى الطبيب.
بين الظلم والنُبل: صراع داخلي بين القسوة والكرامة، بين ما يُفرض على الإنسان وما يختاره بقيمه.
بين الحرفين: قد تكون إشارة إلى المسافة بين حرفين في اللغة، كأنها تقول إن المعنى الحقيقي يكمن في الفراغات، في ما لا يُقال.
