في روايته " ليندا " يحاول الكاتب " فوزي البيتي " تحويل الواقع إلى لوحة فنية ، في إشارة ضمنية إلى أن الفن هو الواقع الباقي بعد خسران الفنان لكل شيء ؛ تماماً هذا هو حال " جديس " بطل روايته التائه عن الواقع والخارج عن النمط المألوف ، فنان تشكيلي بالسليقة ، لا ينتمي إلى مدرسة محددة بالفن ، ولكن ينتمي إلى فئة ( البدون ) وقد قالوا له في طفولته البائسة بأنه ينتمي إلى فصيلة ملغاة من الوجود ومن التكوين الإنساني ، ولم يعرف لماذا ؟ وعندما كبر ، أصبحت رسوماته تعكس واقعه ، فيقرر السفر إلى كل البلدان حاملاً أدوات الرسم وقليل من متاعه وبعض من زاده التي يحمل فيها وطناً ، وطناً حرمه من التعليم ومن الزواج وحتى من العلاج .
هذه المعالم تتوضح شيئاً فشيئاً في النص ، من خلال تموضع شخصية الفنان في الفضاء الروائي وانخراطه في شبكة علاقات مع شخصيات أخرى تشكل محور الرواية ، وتلعب دوراً في حياة البطل ( الفنان جديس ) لنقرأه نصاً في الزمن البعيد وفي الزمن القريب ، إذ أصبحت ملامح الماضي موازية لملامح الحاضر حينما تولى صاحبنا جديس .. آثار من الأطلال من خلفه .. وركام من لوحات آثمة من أمامه .. كلها رسومات تصفه بالفشل وتصف تجاربه بالعبثية .. في البدء شغب امرأة هادئة ، متوهجة إسمها فدوى ثم شغب امرأة أخرى ظالمة متوحشة إسمها ليندا ، لكن كلتيهما بالنسبة لجديس ، أميرتان فاتنتان انفرد بكل واحدة منهن في حياته انفراداً كاملاً ، فكانتا معه في أدق تفاصيل الحياة بمعانيها الإنسانية ، لكنهما ذهبتا عنه معاً ذهاباً مختلفاً ، وفي زمنين مختلفتين ولكن بقي له فنه ، فنه الذي حرره من كل القيود ، ليرى العالم بعيون أخرى .
