يتناول هذا الكتاب موضوعا يقع فى القلب من المعركة الفكرية المحتدمة حاليا فى أوساط الشباب حول مسائل الإيمان والإلحاد. يبرهن الكتاب علميا وفلسفيا على أن الآخرة ممكنة ، وأن وجود نهاية للكون أمر يقبله العلم ، وأن إحياء الجسد بعد مماته شىء غير عسير بالنظر إلى التطورات العلمية الهائلة التى شهدها العالم فى السنوات الأخيرة. كما يقدم الكتاب براهين مبتكرة على وجود النفس وعلاقتها بالجسد. يتناول الكتاب أيضا الجنة التى وعد بها الإسلام أتباعه ، ويعيد تقييم شبهة الحسية التى شاعت حولها، فيدافع عن هذا الطابع الحسى ، كما يثبت وجود جوانب روحية رائعة غفل عنها منتقدو الإسلام. يتعرض الكتاب أيضا لحياة البرزخ ، ويحدد طبيعة القبر وعذابه ونعيمه بين المؤيدين والمنكرين. يقارن الكتاب أخيرا بين فكرة الآخرة فى منظور الإسلام وغيره من الأديان الكبرى كالبوذية والمسيحية واليهودية. لا شك أن موضوع القيامة قديم ، لكن الجديد هو محتوى الكتاب. والله ولى التوفيق ، وصاحب الفضل.
