تتحدث المجموعة عن اللحظات العابرة للزمن، منها ما هو خاص، يلامس المرأة؛ ومنها ما هو عام يلامس قضايا حياتية ومجتمعية راهنة، الأمر الذي يعكس الواقع وإن كان في منطقة روائية متخيلة في بعض منها، لكنها يمكن أن تحيل إلى أماكن مختلفة في هذا العالم المترامي الأطراف. في الخطاب الروائي، ثمة تأرجح بين الرواية والسرد، فقد جعلت الكاتبة من نفسها راوياً للقصص مشاركاً في الأحداث، وحولت نفسها إلى شخصية روائية تتفاعل مع الوقائع، وتنفعل بها، وهي تتنقل بين الأزمنة والأمكنة؛ والوقائع والأحداث والشخصيات؛ في علاقة تفاعلية تغدو فيها الكتابة الوجه الآخر للحياة؛ فتارة يحضر الحبيب الغائب في "حبيسة البرج" والذي تتوجه إليه بعبارة "حبيبي سابقاً"، وتارة أخرى تحضر حكاية شجرة "التينة" التي تصدعت من بكاء الحاجة أم أحمد على ابنها الذي انقطعت عنها أخباره وتناثرت في مروج البلدة بعد التحاقه بالفدائيين؛ فظلت تردد "وينك يا حبيبي"، وتارة أخرى تعرج على الوضع الفلسطيني، والوضع العراقي، وحرب الخليج الثانية؛ وتعقد مقارنات إنتروبولوجية وثقافية بين شرق - غرب، وإحالات إلى الوضع الإقليمي والدولي.
