روديارد كبلينج: مؤلفٌ إنجليزي، وُلِد في عام ١٨٦٥، ويُعَد من أهم الكُتَّاب الإنجليز الذين اشتغلوا بالكتابة شِعرًا ونَثرًا في أواخر القرن التاسع عشر وبدايات القرن العشرين. ألَّفَ العديدَ من القصص القصيرة وروايات الأطفال التي تُعَد من كلاسيكيات الأدب العالمي، وله أيضًا العديد من القصائد الشعرية الشهيرة، ومن أهم أعماله «كتاب الأدغال»، و«البِحَار السبعة». حاز جائزة نوبل في الأدب في عام ١٩٠٧.

يَمتلِكُ السَّيدُ كاشيل العَجُوزُ صَيْدلَيةً يَعمَلُ بِها السَّيدُ شينور المُولَعُ بالعَقاقِيرِ والمُركَّباتِ الكِيميائِية، وبالمَكتَبِ الخَلفِيِّ يَعمَلُ ابنُ أَخِ السَّيدِ كاشيل عَلى تَشْغيلِ جِهازِ إرْسالٍ واسْتِقبالٍ لَاسِلْكي، فِي مُحاوَلةٍ لتَبادُلِ الرَّسائِلِ معَ مَدِينةِ بول. يَتلقَّى رَاوِي القِصَّة — الذي كانَ يَرتادُ مَتجَرَ السَّيدِ كاشيل باسْتِمرارٍ حتَّى صارَ صَدِيقًا مُقرَّبًا مِنَ السَّيدِ شينور — دَعْوةً مِنَ السَّيدِ كاشيل ليُشاهِدَ جِهازَ الإرْسالِ والاسْتِقبالِ اللَّاسِلْكيَّ الرائِعَ هَذا، وكَيْفِيةَ إرْسالِ الرَّسائِلِ واسْتِقبالِها وفَكِّ شَفَراتِ مورس. ولكِنْ مَا سيَحدُثُ لاحِقًا لا يُمكِنُ تَفسِيرُه؛ إذْ كَيفَ يُمكِنُ لِلسَّيدِ شينور — الذي لَمْ يَقرَأْ للشاعِرِ الإنْجِليزيِّ العَظِيمِ جون كيتس مِن قَبلُ — أنْ يُسطِّرَ أَبْياتًا مِن شِعرِه؟ هَلْ لبِسَتْه رُوحُ كيتس؟ لِنَتعرَّفْ عَلى ذلِكَ معًا مِن خِلالِ أَحْداثِ القِصةِ المُثِيرةِ التي يَمزُجُ فِيها الشاعِرُ والكاتِبُ الإنْجِليزيُّ الكَبِيرُ روديارد كبلينج بَينَ النَّثرِ والشِّعرِ والخَيال.
