الكتاب عبارة عن رواية لسجينتين قررتا البقاء في السجن رغن انتهاء مدة عقوبتهما، لأن أحداهما سوف تُقتل إذا خرجت من السجن، والأخرى لقيطة لا أحد ينتظرها خارج السجن وتخاف من العودة للحياة مع وحدتها وكونها منبوذة من المجتمع. الرواية يتم سردها عبر مذكرات لكل واحدة منهما، وتكون ذاكرة المكان هي التي تنقذهما من سنوات الوحدة في السجن، ذاكرة المكان في عمان وفي عدة مدن في الأردن يتم وصفها في الرواية، فهي رواية المكان وليس الأشخاص فقط.
