ما هو الإنسان؟
هل هو من تشكله ذكرياته؟
إن كان، فكيف الذكريات تأتي من الانسان؟
في خضم هذه التساؤلات، و على كوكبٍ حيث الذكريات هي عصب الحياة البديل عن الذرات و الجزيئات التي نجدها في عالمنا الواقعي يُلقى في وسطها كيندو فالديريان
فتىً عاش ماضٍ يأكله الندم ملؤه الظلمة، يدفع حياته ثمناً لمحاولته التكفير عن ذنوبه، ثم يعاد بعثه ليرمي بعدها ماضيه و يقرر السعي وراء عيش حياة عادية مع عائلةٍ جديدة
لا يلبث أن يعود إليه شبح ماضيه على شكل هجومٍ صاروخي على البلدة التي يعيش بها يلغي حياته الجديدة و يمنعه من العودة إليها
لينطلق في مغامرة سعياً للنيل ممن تسبب في تنغيص حياته تلك، يُكَوّن خلال تلك المغامرة أصدقاء، و يصطدم بأعداء، جميعهم من ضمنهم هو نفسه يسعى لملأ جانب من النفس البشرية كان غائباً عنه
و تؤدي تلك المقابلات و العلاقات و الاصطدامات إلى ظروفٍ تضع البشرية برمتها و الكون بأسره في خطر الزوال و الفناء
