وبينما كان القطار يشق الفضاء مسرعا كانت ساعاته تثتاقل حينا بعد حين كأن الساعة الماضية تمسك بتلابيب الساعة الآتية كي تمنعها من الانطلاق.
وشعر صالح نعمة أن الفضاء ينزل عليه، وسرعان ما سيغلفه في بوتقة تعزله عن العالم.
مسح بيديه على زجاج النافذة كي تنقشع سحابة شجن ضوعت بين عينيه فمنعته من رؤية لوليت. سرت في أوصاله رعشة من ذهول إذ رأى غربانا تحط على خط الكهرباء الموازي لسكة القطار .
لقد رآها من قبل على سقف محطة القطار، ورآها فوق سقف العمارة يوم رحلت حواء ، وراها قبل ذلك لكنه لا يدري متى وأين ربما لا يهم كثيرا. لكن كلما انمحت الذكرى، كلما كان وقعها على النفس أشد. كان ريشها يهتز كراقصات باليه مع صفقات الريح التي تتمتع بإسقاط كل المهرجين الذين يلعبون على الحبال. لكن الغربان لا تنتمي إلى فصيلة المهرجين. كانت تنشنش وتميس إلى الخلف والقدام ولا يبدو عليها أنها تخشى السقوط أو تريد أن تطير!
