قال المؤلف: تمهيد في تاريخ الشرك والتوحيد:
إن الله - سبحانه - قد خلق العباد جميعًا مسلمين موحِّدين لله - سبحانه -، ولكن الشياطين جاءتهم فبدلت لهم دينهم وأفسدت إيمانهم. قال تعالى في الحديث القدسى: «خلقت عبادي حنفاء كلهم وإنهم أتتهم الشياطين اجتالتهم عن دينهم وحرَّمت عليهم ما أحللت لهم وأمرتهم أن يشركوا بي ما لم أنزل به سلطانًا»، فكلما وقع الناس في نوع من الشرك بعث الله إليهم أنبياءه بما يناسبه من أنواع التوحيد.
