رواية "قطط انستجرام" للروائية باسمة العنزي التي سردت خلالها قصة أربعة أبطال؛ الأولى الفتاة "أحلام" ابنة الطبقة الوسطى التي اتخذت من ماضيها الجميل ملاذاً آمناً تعود إليه، وحامد الذي دخل السجن بقضية شيكات من دون رصيد، ورجل الأعمال منصور لافي صاحب السمعة السيئة الذي يسعى لإيجاد مكان بارز له، وصاحبة القط "سبايس" الشابة المثقفة العاطلة عن العمل التي تدير صفحة إلكترونية تنتقد فيها المجتمع عبر استخدامها لقطِّها.
تتناول الرواية تأثير مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي وتراجع بعض القيم بسبب الضغط الجمعي المنحاز لكل ما هو مادي، إضافة إلى ظاهرة الترويج الهستيري للأفكار والشخصيات عبر فضاء العالم الافتراضي، ومدى خطورة ذلك على مجتمعات نصف أفرادها تحت سن العشرين. وتقول المؤلفة إنها لا تناقش أسراراً في روايتها "بل رسمت واقعنا بشيء من المكاشفة، والقطط في العنوان تشير إلى شخصيات تتقافز من حولنا، دون أن نتمكن من السيطرة على تكاثر أعدادها، قطط كبرت في غفلة من الزمن مستغلة الفضاء الافتراضي، غير منتجة وعديمة الفائدة لمجتمعها، ربتت عليها أيادينا ولاحقناها بفراغنا، وسيأتي يوم ندفع فيه جميعاً ثمن انجرافنا وراء التفاهة والخواء الفكري". وترى العنزي أن "مجتمعاتنا الشابة انغمس أفرادها في لعبة التلصص الإلكتروني، الكل يراقب الكل، الألياف الضوئية تنقل تفاصيل دقيقة عن حياتنا بينما أبوابنا موصدة". مضيفة بأن "كل ما فعلته أني تابعت خط سير البطلة وقطها "سبايس" نجم السوشيل ميديا، وقدمت للقارئ مقاربة لما يشاهده يومياً عبر الشاشات المضيئة".
يذكر أن الروائية باسمة العنزي لها ثلاث مجموعات قصصية هي "الأشياء" و"حياة صغيرة خالية من الأحداث" وأخرى بمسمى "يغلق الباب على ضجر"، وسبق لها أن حصلت على جائزة الدولة التشجيعية في القصة القصيرة في الكويت عام 2007 كما اختيرت مجموعتها "يغلق الباب على ضجر" ضمن القائمة الطويلة لجائزة الشيخ زايد فرع المؤلف الشاب عام 2011، وفازت روايتها "حذاء أسود على الرصيف" في جائزة الشارقة للإبداع العربي 2012.
