وصف رواية حكاية قاطع الخيزران ترجمة (عصام رياض حمزه) :
يسرد هذا العمل الادبى الذى يعود تاريخه إلى القرن السابع عشر قصة حكاية تاكِيتِوري مونوغاتارِي (حكاية قاطع الخيزران)، التي تشتهر بأنها أقدم رواية نثرية في الأدب الياباني وتمت كتابتها في الأساس في القرن العاشر تقريبا. وفي هذه اللفيفة، تم رسم الزهور على ورقة النص الأساسي. وتدور أحداث القصة الأساسية حول كاغوياهيم، التي عثر عليها قاطع خيزران عجوز عندما كانت رضيعة داخل جِذع خيزران يشعُّ منه ضوء غامض. واعتبرها قاطع الخيزران وزوجته بمثابة ابنتهما، وسرعان ما أصبحت كاغوياهيم شابة جميلة، وأميرة لامعة. وتحاول كاغوياهيم، المقدر لها العودة إلى القمر، موطنها الحقيقي، تثبيط عزيمة خطابها الأمراء الخمسة من خلال مطالبتهم بتنفيذ مهام مستحيلة. وبعد فشل الجميع، يُصبح إمبراطور اليابان بدوره مفتونا بجمالها ولكنها ترفضه عندما يطلب يدها. وعندما تصل مجموعة من الكائنات السماوية على متن مركبة لاصطحابها، تقوم بارتداء رداء من الريش فيقومون بإعادتها إلى موطنها لاستعادة مكانتها المستحقة كمخلوقة خالدة.
