ويحاول هذا الكتاب الإجابة عن سؤال رئيس هو: ما المذنبات؟ فهي يقدم شرحاً لماهية المذنبات ويسرد قصة مذنب هالي الذي يعد من أشهر المذنبات وأكثرها شعبية.
وننتقل في هذا الكتاب من الجزء الخاص بمنظومتنا الشمسية إلى جزء آخر يتحدث عن توهج السماء ليلاً وعن أسباب ذلك التوهج. وفي إطار حديثنا عن هذا الدور نحاول الإجابة عن عدد من الأسئلة، مثل كيف يعمل الضوء؟ لماذا تبدو أوراق الشجر خضراء؟ لماذا يكون نور الشمس أبيض اللون؟
ويبحث هذا الكتاب في مكونات الغلاف الجوي للأرض ويبين علاقته بالضوء وتأثير الغلاف الجوي على سلوك الضوء.
وفي الجزء الأخير من هذا الكتاب نشرح لك كسوف الشمس وخسوف القمر، ونبين لك أنهما (أي الكسوف والخسوف) نتيجة من نتائج الحركة الدورانية للأرض.
