"في السجن عرفت الإخوان" ليس عنوانًا مثيرًا لكتاب، ولكنه عنوانٌ لحقيقة، عنوانٌ لتجربة ربما لم تكن لتكتمل لولا بعض الألم الذي يأتي بعده الشفاء، فرغم أنني عاشرت الإخوان لسنين إلا أنني لم أعرفهم حقيقة إلا في السجن، فحين وقعت الأحداث التي نتج عنها ما تعيشه الجماعة اليوم؛ تكشفت لديّ الكثير من الأمور، وحين تم الاختلاط عن قرب في مكان بطبيعته يسمح للمرء أن يتعرف بوضوح عمن يعايشهم بداخله؛ ظهر الكثير مما كان خافيًا من الطباع والسلوكيات، وحين حدث الاختلاف في وجهات النظر؛ ظهر بجلاء ما يقف خلف هذه الطباع والسلوكيات من أفكار وقناعات في أسوء صورة وأقبح منظر.
في هذا الكتاب لا أسرد سيرة ذاتية فربما ليست لصاحب الكلمات تجربة ثرية بالأحداث والشخصيات مما يعطي السيرة الذاتية عمقًا وثراءً، لكنها سيرة لعقل يُمثل نموذجًا لآلاف غيره لازالوا أسرى خلف أسوار التنظيم، سيرة لعقل تتتبع حياته ومسيرته كيف نشأ وكيف كان يرى نفسه والعالم من حوله وكيف كان ينظر للأمور ويقدّرها، وكيف تحوّل وكيف أصبح، وما الذي من الممكن أن يستفيد منه بعضٌ من الذين لازالوا يقفون على باب التنظيم ولم يقرروا بعد هل يستمرون فيه أم يخرجون بلا عودة بعد أن اهتزت قناعاتهم وتبددت أحلامهم واصطدموا بواقعٍ لم يكونوا مدركوه من قبل.
