لقد استطاع "مارك دوقان" بأسلوب مرهف شغوف بالتفاصيل أن يدخلنا عوالم تلك الشخصيات التي تبدو لنا أول الأمر بعيدة عنا، ولكنها لا تلبث أن تدنو منا، وتتلبسنا فإذا هي نحن في سعينا إلى فهم عالمنا وانطوائنا أمام قسوة الحياة وانبهارنا بطاقة الأمل التي يمكن أن تتفجر في أي لحظة. إنه عمل لا يقرأ مرة واحدة: لأنه لا يبوح بأسراره إلا بعد عناء، فهو كالمرأة التي تغري وتتمنع، وفي تلك المراوحة بين التخفي والانكشاف سر من أسرار الأدب الحق.
