وقد اشتهر بسبب كتابته "سلسلة الألفية"، وهى من روايات الجريمة، التي نشرت بعد وفاته.
وقد عاش لارسون وعمل معظم حياته في ستوكهولم.
لارسون كان ثاني أكثر المؤلفين مبيعا في العالم في عام 2008، خلف خالد حسيني.
