ما كنت بريئًا مما حدث، وما كان القتلى أبرياء، كلنا متهمون، البريء الوحيد في هذه القضية هو القاتل، الذي مل كثرة الجراد؛ يفتح فمه ولا يشبع أبدًا، مسكين أيها القاتل، ونحن المجرمون.
على شاطئ الموت يقف على جثث الأطفال أنصاف رجال، قردة فوق الأخدود تستعذب الشواء، كانت تصاريح الدفن جماعية.
هنا توقف كل شيء، الأغنيات، الأمنيات، القلوب التي بلغت الحناجر، هنا ينساب العويل على جدران القلب، كما تنساب الدموع دمًا من مسامات الجلد، هنا ستخطئ الأرصدة في تقدير درجة الحرارة هذا الصباح. كنت أعزل عاريًا تمامًا سوى من دمي ولحمي، لكنهم أصروا على أن يجردوني من كل شيء، حاولت أن أخبئ روحي، كانت السماوات مفتوحة الأبواب، يطل منها ملائكة وأطفال ونساء.
