تتناول الرواية قصة حب لزم قتلها قبل الأفصاح عنها خلال فترة لجوء اللبنانيين إلى سوريا، تتصاعد الأحداث لتكتشف بيلا صدفة السر الأغرب في حياتها بينما هي تخضع للتعذيب أثناء اختطافها، يهمل حبيبها القديم خطيبته و يبتعدُ عنها ليدخلُ إلى سوريا من جديد بحثاً عن حب حياته.
