وفي تلك الرسالة إطلالة على حياة رجل كبير مع القرآن، فقد كان عمر رجلًا قرآنياً من الطراز الأول، ما لبث منذ سمع القرآن أن خضع له لبه، وخشع له قلبه، فسارع إلى الدخول في الإسلام والانصمام إلى قافلة الإيمان، وأكرمه الله إكرامًا عظيمًا إذ جعله من عباده الملهمين فوافق ربه في مواضع متعددة لفظًا ومعنى، وكان له الأثر الكبير في اقتراحه على أبي بكر الصديق جمع القرآن.
وفي خلافته كان القرآن مهيمنًا عليه في أقواله وأفعاله وحركاته وسكناته وليله ونهاره.
وهذه الصفحات تحاول أن تقترب من عالم عمر القرآني، لعلها تفتح نافذة عليه، وتخطو خطوة إليه، في رحاب أفقه الواسع وعبقريته البعيدة.
