تدور الاحداث حول شخصان يعيشان في منطقه واحده
الاول : اكرم شاب مستقيم متفوق في دراسته ملتزم أخلاقا ودينيا يسير في طريق الكفاح لكي يحقق أحلامه ودائما تعوقه ظروفه المادية الصعبة مثل كثير من الشباب ، يرتبط بالإنسانية التي يحبها ولكن بسبب ظروفه المادية والتي لا تسمح بكل تأكيد أن يمتلك شقه صغيره يتزوج فيها تؤدي في النهاية إلى فشل العلاقة ، ولكن في النهاية سيعوضه الله بإنسانه أخرى تحبه وتتحمل ظروفه الصعبة لتلازمه في طريق الكفاح .
الثاني : هاشم شاب فاشل ومستهتر يتعاطى مخدرات بشراهة تحدث خلافات بينه وبين والدته بسبب تعاطيه للحشيش مما يتسبب في أن تطرده من بيتها فينتقم منها ويسرق أموالها ويتجه بعد ذلك إلي العمل في تجارة المخدرات يكسب أموال كثيره يدخل في صراعات كثيره من أجل زياده ثروته الدم سلاحه الدائم في تحقيق أحلامه للوصل إلى القمه وفي النهاية سيقع في بئر الجحيم فجذاءه من جنس عمله .
اكرم وهاشم شباب من نفس السن تجمعهم منطقه واحده ولكنهم ليسوا اصدقاء بالعكس كل واحد منهم ينتقد الاخر كل واحد منهم يري منطقه في الحياه هو الصحيح ، تتقابل الشخصيتان مرتان في الرواية الأولي في أول الرواية والثانية في اخر الرواية وفي المرتان يحدث تصادم بينهما .
مضمون العمل بأن الإنسان الشريف مهما واجه مصاعب وازمات سينجح في النهاية ويحقق أحلامه أما الإنسان عديم الضمير مهما كان شديد الذكاء ومهما جنى من أموال حرام سيدفع الثمن في النهاية ولن يستطع الهروب من العقاب لان الخير ينتصر في النهاية ، أما عن تسميه العمل بهذا الاسم عذبة هاشم لان امثال هاشم ممن كونوا ثروات طائلة من طرق غير مشروعه يرون بأن البلد عذبة يمتلكونها وليست دوله يحكمها القانون .
