يوسف رجل في الأربعينيات من عمره، يعيش مع ابنته الوحيدة قمر بعد وفاة زوجته، ويعمل كطبيب في مستشفى قريب من منزله.
يحب القراءة و يعشق إقتناء الكتب، في أحد الأيام يشتري مجموعة كتب و بينما يتفحصها يجد كتيب صغير ليس بالعادي، فداخله تكمن إعترافات عن جرائم وحشية تمت بواسطة شخصيات لها سلطة مهمة في الدولة.
يوسف الذي أقصى طموحه شراء كتاب جديد يجد نفسه أمام جلال نائب رئيس الوزراء، جلال الذي ليس بالشخصية العادية، مُحباً للسلطة ويستخدمها ليعتدي على الضعفاء و يرضي غرائزه ليبدو كما لو أنه لا يختلف عن الحيوان.
كيف سيكون بوسع يوسف أن يقف أمام جلال وسلطته؟ ومالذي سيخسره في دافع وقوفه مع الحق..
