لم أكن أؤمن بالأماكن التي تبتلع البشر، ولا بالأبواب التي تخفي خلفها أكثر مما تُظهر. كنت أظن أن الخوف وهمٌ نصنعه حين نعجز عن تفسير الأشياء، وأن العتمة ليست سوى غيابٍ مؤقت للنور.
لكنني أخطأت.
دخلت ذلك المبنى شابًا عاديًا، محمّلًا بصمتٍ أكثر من اللازم، وبماضٍ لم أجرؤ يومًا على مواجهته. لم يكن في المكان ما يوحي بالرعب؛ جدران قديمة، ممرات طويلة، وأبواب خشبية تشبه تلك التي رأيتها آلاف المرات. ومع ذلك، كان هناك شيء واحد مختلف… شيء لا يُرى، لكنه يُشعر به.
كانوا يسمّونه زاوية العدم.
لم ينهوني عنها، لم يضعوا لافتات تحذير، فقط كانوا يتجنّبون الحديث عنها، وكأن الصمت وحده كافٍ ليجعلها غير موجودة. كل من ذُكرت أمامه الزاوية، تغيّرت ملامحه، لا خوفًا… بل استسلامًا.
لم أسمع صراخًا، لم أرَ دمًا، ولم أشاهد كوابيس تتحرك أمامي.
ما رأيته كان أسوأ:
رأيت نفسي، بلا أعذار، بلا أقنعة، وبلا مهرب.
في تلك الزاوية، لا يُعاقَب الإنسان على خطاياه،
بل يُترك وحيدًا معها.
وهنا بدأت الظلمات…
لا خارج الجدران،
بل داخلي.
