يتناول هذا البحث ظاهرة المد الفرعي القرآن الكريم، وينقسم إلى قسمين، نظري، وتناول فيه الباحث أقسامه وآراء العلماء حول المدة الزمنية أو ما يسمى بمقدار الحركات في كل نوع، وأما القسم الآخر (التطبيقي) فقد جاء تطبيقا على مجموعة من الشيوخ المتميزين في الأداء القرآني، وهم الشيخ الحصري والشيخ المنشاوي والشيخ عبد الباسط عبد الصمد، والشيخ البنا والشيخ مصطفى إسماعيل، مطبقا كل هذا على جانب من سورة البقرة، وجامعا في الوقت ذاته متوسط المدة الزمنية عند القراء الخمسة، وحاسبا متوسط المدة لكل قسم على حدة، كما يظهر في الجانب التطبيقي، وقد استخدمت فيه برنامجا لتحليل الصوت، كما هو موضح في البحث.
