رواية ضباب للكاتب والمفكر الإسباني ميغيل دي أونامونو ، وهو أديب و مفكر إسباني معاصر يعتبر من أشهر المفكرين الإسبان، أمثال أورطيغا إي غاسيط، و أنخيل غانيبيط، و خوليان مارياس وأكثرهم تأثيرا في بلاده، كان ينتمي إلى مذهب الفلسفة الوجودية.
ولد ميغيل دي أونامونو في مدينة بيلباو الواقعة على خليج الباسك في شمال إسبانيا عام 1864. وتلقى تعليما دينيا في طفولته، ترك في نفسه آثارا إيمانية عميقة، ثم درس الفلسفة الكلاسيكية في مدريد، و تأثر بديكارت وهيغل وفخته…. وكان حجة عصره في مجالات فكرية و فلسفية وأدبية مختلفة ومتعددة. كان قد تعرض أثناء دراسته لأزمة دينية قوية، حصل على دكتوراه في الآداب برسالة في اللغة الباسكية (اللغة القومية لإقليم الباسك الذي ينتمي إليه)،عاد بعدها إلى بلدته بيلباو، ليمارس الكتابة الصحفية والتدريس الخاص حتى سنة 1891،وفي هذه السنة تقدم لشغل كرسي علم النفس والمنطق والأخلاق في جامعة مدريد، و لكنه أخفق في الحصول عليه، و أخيرا حصل على كرسي اللغة والأدب. كانت مواقفه السياسية دائما ضد الأنظمة الديكتاتورية التي أقيمت في إسبانيا منذ بداية القرن العشرين، وفي سنة 1936، فرضت عليه الإقامة الإجبارية إلى أن توفي يوم 31 دجنبر من سنة 1936.
