ولدت «لودميلا أوليتسكايا» في 21 فبراير عام 1943.
وهي أكثر كُتاب روسيا المعاصرة ترجمةً إلى اللغات الأخرى.
وباعت أعمالها أكثر من أربعة ملايين نسخة في جميع أنحاء العالم.
كما أنها صاحبة الرقم القياسي في تاريخ الترشيحات لجائزة البوكر الروسية، حيث وصلت خمسة من أعمالها إلى القائمة القصيرة، منها رواية «صونيتشكا» عام 1993، والتي حصدت لاحقًا جائزة «مديسيس» الفرنسية للرواية الأجنبية عام 1996، وجائزة «جيوزيبيه أتشربي» الأدبية في إيطاليا عام 1998.
