المفكر الكبير الدكتور مصطفى محمود يثير في كتابه قضية متفجرة و هي الشفاعة و سبب الخلاف ان القران الكريم ينفي الشفاعة في الكثير من آياته المحكمة نفيا مطلقا و في آيات يذكرها مقيدة و مشروطة بالإذنالغلهي بينما تروي لنا بعض الأحاديث المنسوبة إلى رسول الله ان محمدا عليه الصلاة و السلام يقف شفيعا يوم القيامة للمذنبين و لأهل الكبائر من امته و انه يخرج من قضى عليهم بالعذاب في النار و يدخلهم الجنة .و يقول د. مصطفى محمود " اقرأوا السيرة من خلال القرآن تفهمو السيرة أحسن .. و تفهموا الدين احسن ..و لا تستخفكم الروايات و الأحاديث التي تدخلكم الجنة بغير حساب لمجرد انكم تلفظتم بكلمة التوحيد .. فالتوحيد ليس مجرد كلمة و أنما حقيقة تملأ القلب و يترجمها العمل و يؤكدها السعي في الأرض و في مصالح الناس و تعبر عنها حركة الحياة بأسرها ".والثوابت القرآنية تتناقض تماما مع مرويات الأحاديث النبوية عن اخراجه لمن يشاء من أمته من النار مما يؤكد انها لا يمكن ان تكون قد صدرت عن النبي . والكتاب "محاولة فهم" معنى الشفاعة كما وردت في القرآن و كيف انها تختلف عن معنى الشفاعة بمفهومها الدنيوي و كيف ان محكمة الآخرة هي غيب لا يمكن قياس ما يجري فيها على محاكمنا و على دنيانا المليئة بالتدليس و الشبهات. وأتى هذا الكتاب للرد على كتاب دكتور مصصطفى محمود
