تدور أحداث الرواية في المدينة المنورة سنة 63هـ حيث تصف أحداث يوم الحرة الأليم واجتياح المدينة النبوية من قبل جيش يزيد بن معاوية وقتل أهلها واستباحة أعراضهم ونهب أموالهم، فهي رواية تاريخية تسرد الأحداث بأسلوب فني شائق، وتعد أول عمل روائي يتناول هذه الحادثة الأكثر فظاعة في تاريخ الإسلام، وتعد من الأعمال الأدبية الأكثر جرأة التي تصدت لكشف المسكوت عنه في التاريخ الإسلامي. نأمل أن تفتح هذه الرواية آفاق الوعي لدراسة تاريخنا من جديد معتمدين الموضوعية والنزاهة والصدق بعيدا عن التزييف.
