ولكن هذا لا ينفي وجود وسائل أخرى مناسبة لمقاربة هذا الدور ، بدءاً بالعودة النقدية إلى المقاربة السوسيولوجية التي ظهرت بوادرها قبل أكثر من قرن ، كما فعل المؤلف ؛ لقد استعرض نظريات الإتصال الكبرى وقدم لنا عرضاً دقيقاً للبحوث والتأملات التي أثارتها الأنواع التلفزيونية والثقافية ، ومنها بروز تلفزيون الواقع وشبكة الانترنت .
في هذا الكتاب الجدير بالإهتمام ، سعيٌ تحليلي معمّق إلى تحقيق المصالحة بين البحوث الخاصة بإنتاج المواد الإعلامية والثقافية والبحوث الخاصة بالتلقي ، وفيه دعوةٌ مبررة إلى انفتاح أوسع على الدراسات الثقافية التي يمكن أن تلتقي فيها العلوم الإجتماعية وعلوم الإتصال والإعلام .
