أقوم برحلة على متن قاربٍ صغير.. أُجَذّفُ فقط من أجل التّجذيف.. لا أودُّ أن تأسرني فكرة الوصول لجزيرة معيّنة.. أريد فقط الإستكشاف والإستمتاع بلحظات حياتي.. وكأنّني أصوّر كل لحظة أعيشها وأضعها في ألبوم صور.. وعندما أصبح في آخر أيام حياتي، أُريد أن أنظر إلى هذه الصّور وأقول :"لقد اكتفيت.. ماذا قد يطلب المرء أكثر من ذلك؟ الآن يمكنني أن أذهب بسلام.."

لقد تعوّدنا دائمًا على قراءة روايات يُبنى أساسها على المُشكلة التي تمرُّ بها الشّخصيّات.. وتَنتَهي إمّا بسعادة.. وإمّا ببؤس.. ولكن، ماذا بعد ذلك ؟ كيف بَنَتْ تلك التّجارُب أفكار هؤلاء الأشخاص وأثْقَلَت شخصيّتهم ؟ ما هي الآثار التي بَقِيَتْ في نفوسهم بعد عَيْشِهم بعُمق لتلك الأحداث ؟ كيف أصبحوا يُفكّرون ويتكلّمون ويتصرّفون ؟ بمعنى آخر، كيف تجلَّتْ الحياة التي عاشوها على هيأتهم ؟ كيف أصبحوا مرآة لما مرّوا به ؟ وهل الأحداث التي نمرّ بها تُشكّلُنا أم تُقدُّمُ لنا فقط الخيارات والفُرص التي نحن نختارُ منها ما نودُّ أن نكون عليه ؟
لذلك، تُركِّز هذه الرّواية على ما أصبَحَتْ عليه الشّخصيّات من دون أن تتناول ما قد حدث معهم سابِقًا والذي جعلهم بالصورة التي يبدون عليها عند التقائهم ببعضهم البعض..
فهل سينجح الحوار القائم بين شَخصَيْن يقومان بالحديث عن أفكارهما ومشاعرهما من دون التَطرّق بشكل أساسي إلى ماضيهما ؟ أم أنّ الفضول لن يسمح بمُتابعة مثل ذلك الحوار ؟ ما الذي يهمّنا أكثر ؟ الإنصات وفهم مشاعر من يُحاورنا ؟ أم إرضاء فضولنا فقط بتركيز اهتمامنا على مُحاولة معرفة ما الذي حصل مع الشخص الذي نتكلّم معه بغض النّظر عن مشاعره ؟
هذه الرّواية لا تهدف إلى عرض الحقائق، فالحقائق نسبيّة.. إنّما هدفها دفعنا إلى التّأمّل والتّفكُّر، فكما قيل :"من التّأمُّل يولد التّفكُّر، ومن التّفكّر يولد الفهم، ومن الفهم يولد الإيمان، ومن الإيمان يولد السّلام، والسّلام هو الغاية".
