بعد أربعين عامًا من الغياب، يعود سليم إلى الحارة التي غادرها شابًا، لا بدافع الحنين، بل بعدما علم أن بيت عائلته القديم على وشك الهدم، وأن له فيه حقًا لم يُستوفَ بعد.
لكن البيت الذي ظنه مجرد بقايا من طفولته يخفي أكثر مما تخبئه جدرانه العتيقة؛ مفتاحًا صدئًا، ووثائق مشكوكًا فيها، وغرفة شرقية مغلقة، ورسائل كتبتها جدته حليمة طوال خمسة وثلاثين عامًا لابنٍ غائب لم يتحدث عنه أحد.
ومع كل رسالة يفتحها، وكل شاهد يلتقيه، وكل سرّ يخرج من صمت الحارة، يكتشف سليم أن القضية لم تعد قضية بيت أو ملكية، بل حكاية عائلة أخفت الحقيقة أربعين عامًا، وذاكرة مكان ظل ينتظر من يصغي إليه.
بين الماضي والحاضر، وبين الصمت والشهادة، يبدأ سليم رحلة البحث عن الحقيقة، ليكتشف في نهايتها أن بعض البيوت لا تُستعاد بامتلاكها، وإنما بإعادة الحياة إلى حكاياتها.
فالأمكنة لا تموت... إنها فقط تنتظر من يصغي إلى صداها.
