كانت تقف على حافة الشرفة بجانب أصيصات الزرع على علو خمس طوابق، فستانها يتمايل مع نسمات الهواء، اقترب منها بحذر وهدوء، ناداها فلم تجبه، كرر النداء فتكررت ردة الفعل المعدومة، كانت تبدو كأنها ليست في وعيها لا تسمع ولا تجيب ولا ترى، صرخ بها:
_شفق انزلي أرجوك.
استدارت نحوه ببطء، قطبت حاجبيها لرؤيته، ثم ابتسمت ببرود ولوحت بيدها أي وداعاً، وأبعدت أول قدمٍ لتخطو للأسفل!
