السير آرثر تشارلز كلارك (ولد 16 ديسمبر 1917 في بريطانيا وتوفي في 19 مارس 2008) روائي ومخترع بريطاني، أكبر مصدر لشهرته هو رواية الخيال العلمي 2001: أوديسا الفضاء التي كتبها بالتعاون مع المخرج ستانلي كوبريك لصنع فيلم بنفس الاسم.
كلارك هو الباقي الوحيد ممن يطلق عليهم الثلاثة الكبار في الخيال العلمي، الأخران هما إسحاق أسيموف وروبرت آنسون هاينلاين.
عندما كان صغيرا, كان يتردد على جمعية تهتم بالفضاء, وبدأ ولعه بقصص الفضاء عندما بدأ يقرأ مجلة "قصص مدهشة" (Amazing stories).
خدم ملازما أول في القوات الجوية البريطانية وتنبأ في دراسة في نهاية الحرب العالمية الثانية بعصر تصبح فيه الاتصالات عبر الأقمار الصناعية, لكن الدراسة كادت ترفض عندما عرض نشرها على مجلة اعتبرتها "حالمة" أكثر من اللزوم.
ذهب لكولومبو عاصمة سريلانكا ليستقر فيها.
توقع كلارك اكتشاف وجود كائنات حية على كواكب أخرى بحلول 2030, وقد ألف نحو مائة كتاب عن الفضاء بينها روايات خيال علمي أشهرها "2001: أوديسا الفضاء", التي كتبها قبل أربعة عقود وتحولت فيلما أخرجه ستانلي كوبريك, هو الآن أحد كلاسيكيات الخيال العلمي.
كان كلارك مهتما كذلك بالغطس التي ألف حولها عشرة مؤلفات كما أسس لها مدرسة في كولومبو .
توفي آرثر في 19 مارس 2008 عن 90 عاما في مستشفى بسريلانكا آبسبب مشاكل في التنفس, هي من أعراض شلل أطفال أصيب به في صغره, وجعله طيلة العقود الثلاثة الماضية أسير كرسي متحرك.
