يقدم لنا الكاتب اللبناني محمد ماضي مجموعة قصصية من واقع الحياة، ينقلها إلينا عبر كتابه الذي جاء بعنوان "رجال العين" في صورة رسمها بأجمل ما في اللغة من معنى، وأصدق ما في النفس من تعبير، فهو ابن الجنوب المقاوم، ومن بلدة شبعا اللبنانية، التي مازالت تقاوم الاحتلال.
في كتابه يحكي قصة معاناة شعب بأكمله من جنوبه إلى شماله، العلاقات التي حكمت الناس في فترة عصيبة من عمر الزمن، لا يشعر بألمها إلا من عاصرها، فكانت المقاومة قدراً لا مناص منه، رجال ليس ككل الرجال ونساء ليس كأي نساء وأطفال حرموا طفولتهم، كلهم مقاومون في وجه عدو لا يرحم، عبر عنهم الكاتب بروحه الثائرة على الظلم، وروخ تغار على الوطن، أجمل بلاد الدنيا، حباه الله طبيعة ليس لها مثيل بحراً وجبلاً وسهلاً، فكان هدفاً للطامعين بأرضه وخيراته.
يقول الكاتب يصف حال الناس: "حين ينامون قليلاً من الساعات، ينام الحس ويستيقظ الحدس... يتشوقون إلى بوارق أمل عجلى، يودون لو حملت إليهم نشرات أخبار الغجر تباشير وقف لإطلاق النار، أو وساطة دولية لوقف الحرب وعقد الصلح...".
رواية صادقة شخصياتها مازالت تعيش بيننا، أضاء بها على حال الناس والوطن في يوميات الحرب ما بعد فرحة التحرير، فكانت عنواناً لشعب أبى أن يستسلم.
