بكل فخر تم تأليف هذه الكتاب في دمشق - سوريا رغم كل الظّروف التي مرّت بها البلاد، مازالت أرضنا خصبة للإنتاج الفكري البنّاء، وهذا العامل الذي جعلني أخص أبناء وطني العربي كجمهور الكتاب الرئيسي حيث لم أجد دليلاً لنظم تشغيل لينكس كافي كي يقلع به المستخدم العربي، فمعظم المراجع باللغة الانجليزيّة مما يشكّل حاجزاً أمام الكثير من القرّاء والمستخدمين الذين يختارون الأمور التقنية حسب التجارب المكتسبة من محيطهم (بحكم العادة)، وأرجو أن يوفّقني الله في إرشاد القرّاء وتوعيتهم عن الخيارات المُتاحة لديهم، فالحرّية هي معرفة خياراتك وأخذ الحل الأمثل، وليست القيود التي تقدّمها الشّركات الربحية الكبرى التي تغرقنا بميّزات وإعلانات لسنا بحاجة إليها أصلاً بل هي موجودة بغرض التجسّس وجمع البيانات فقط، لذا علينا الانتباه إلى الأنظمة والبرامج التي نستخدمها كي لا نقع ضحيّة الخصوصيّة المعدومة، هذا ما أحاول توضيحه في هذا الكتاب وأسأل الله التّوفيق.
