يالجلال الإرادة الإنسانية عندما يكون دافعها الإيمان القوي متمثلاً في هذا الخليفة الحازم الشجاع.. الذي قضى على الفتنة وأعاد للإسلام صولته وجلاله في القلوب والعقول، لقد تولى الخلافة عامين ونحو ثلاثة شهور، صنع فيهم ما يشبه المعجزات!، وكان شعاره الذي إلتزم به منذ أول يوم تولى فيه الخلافة: "أما بعد.. أيها الناس: إني قد وليت عليكم، ولست بخيركم، فإن أحسنت فأعينوني، وإن أخطأت فقوموني، الصدق أمانة، والكذب خيانة، والضعيف فيكم قوي حتى آخذ الحق له إن شاء الله، والقوي فيكم ضعيف حتى آخذ الحق منه إن شاء الله، لا يدع قوم الجهاد في سبيل الله إلا ضربهم الله بالذل، ولا تشيع الفاحشة في قوم إلا عمّهم البلاء، أطيعوني ما أطعت الله ورسوله، فإن عصيت الله ورسوله فلا طاعة لي عليكم" هذا هو الصديق الذي كان من آخر دعائه: "اللهم اجعل خير زماني آخره، وخير عملي خواتمه، وخير أيامي يوم ألقاك". وما أعظم شمائل الصديق.
