في كل ركن من أركان العالم، كانت الحدود والخطوط الفاصلة تلعب دورًا حاسمًا في تشكيل مصائر الشعوب وتحديد توجهاتهم المستقبلية. ولكن في الشرق الأوسط، كانت هذه الخطوط قد رسمت بمزيج من الطموحات الاستعمارية والمصالح الدولية. بدأ هذا الفصل الحاسم في تاريخ المنطقة مع اتفاقية سايكس-بيكو عام 1916، التي كانت بمثابة محاولة لتقاسم تركة الإمبراطورية العثمانية بين القوى العظمى آنذاك، بريطانيا وفرنسا. كانت هذه الاتفاقية تمثل بداية سلسلة من الاتفاقيات والمؤامرات التي هدفت إلى تقسيم المنطقة وفقًا لأهواء القوى الاستعمارية، بغض النظر عن الاعتبارات الثقافية أو العرقية للشعوب التي تعيش هناك.

لطالما كان الشرق الأوسط مسرحًا للأحداث العالمية بفضل موقعه الاستراتيجي الذي يربط بين القارات الثلاث: آسيا وأفريقيا وأوروبا. إن هذه المنطقة لم تكن فقط مركزًا للتجارة والثقافة، بل كانت أيضًا معبرًا حيويًا للطاقة، حيث تحتوي على أكبر احتياطي نفطي في العالم. وبالتالي، كانت محورًا للصراعات الدولية ومحط أنظار القوى العظمى التي تسعى لتحقيق نفوذها وتحقيق مصالحها. هذه الديناميكيات لم تؤدِ فقط إلى تشكيل سياسات المنطقة ولكن أثرت أيضًا على السياسات العالمية، لتصبح الأرض نفسها سجلاً للصراعات والتحالفات التي تشكل العالم الحديث.
