كان آدم يظن أنه يعرف نفسه جيدًا.
رجل هادئ، ناجح، مثقف، منظم، يعرف ما يريد، ويحاول دائمًا أن يكون أفضل.
لكن كان بداخله عيب لا يراه الآخرون بسهولة؛ شعور خفي بأنه يفهم أكثر، ويرى ما لا يراه غيره، وأنه يستطيع أن يساعد الناس لأنهم لم يصلوا بعد إلى المكان الذي وصل إليه.
وكان يعرف أن هذا الشعور يحتاج إلى الهزيمة.
ثم ظهرت ريم.
لم تدخل حياته بضجة، ولم تحاول أن تثير إعجابه. مجرد فتاة التقاها في رحلة قصيرة، ثم وجد نفسه بعد أيام عاجزًا عن إخراجها من رأسه.
ومن هنا بدأت الرحلة الحقيقية.
رحلة لا يتعلم فيها آدم كيف يحب ريم فقط، بل يتعلم كيف يفهمها، وكيف يترك لها حريتها، وكيف يفرق بين الحب والامتلاك، وبين الرغبة في إسعاد من نحب والرغبة في أن يفعل ما يريحنا نحن.
وبين آدم وريم، وبين أحاديثه الطويلة مع شيخه، وحياته البسيطة مع أبيه وأمه وأخيه، تبدأ أسئلة أكبر في الظهور:
هل يمكن للإنسان أن يحب دون أن يمتلك؟
هل معرفتنا بعيوبنا تعني أننا تخلصنا منها؟
وهل أكبر معارك الإنسان هي فعلًا تلك التي لا يراها أحد؟
ربما لا يحتاج الإنسان دائمًا إلى تغيير حياته كلها...
ربما يحتاج فقط إلى خطوة.
