من صباحات الريف الصافية وبدايات الطفولة الأولى تنساب كلمات الحنين عبيرا عابرا فوق المكان وعبر الزمن، منسوجة بحرير أحلام طفل لم يعش طفولته إلا لماما. ولم يقض في قريته من الوقت سوى النزر اليسير، إذ نشأ في المدينة وعاش فيها بينما روحه ظلت عالقة هناك في فضاء القرية.
وقدر للطموح الذي لازم الكاتب منذ صغره أن ينتزعه سريعا من بين أقرانه ومن أحضان الطفولة وألعابها، ليستقر في مجلس والده، منصتا لأحاديث الكبار وقضاياهم ومشاكلهم، ولم يكن والده، يحول بينه وبين ما يهوى، وهو الشاعر المسكون بقضايا مجتمعه وأمته، بل كان يرى في صغيره مبدعا مميزاً، جديراً بمجالس الكبار
