وفي إحدى الليالي، وبينما القمر يغطي الكون بضوئه الخافت؛ إذ بسبعة من العمال يتهامسون مع كبير لهم يُدعى "حعبي ور" الذي ظهر أمامهم نحيف الجسد شاحب الوجه من مرارة الجوع وقسوته، بعد أن كان يتفاخر بطول قامته وضخامة جسمه، فاجتمع بهم وأخبرهم بأن القمر الليلة ضئيل يساعدنا في معرفة طريقنا إلى مقبرة الملك "سخم رع شد تاوي" دون أن يرانا أحد، ثم أمرهم بالتوجه نحو المقبرة كلٌ في طريق!
وصل العمال إلى قاعة الدفن بالمقبرة دون أن يفتحوها، فقد سلكوا إليها طريقة غريبة عجيبة؛ فدخلوها عبر المرور بسرداب في مقبرة أخرى حديثة في الجهة المقابلة، ففتحوا التابوت الحجري ووجدوا بداخله تابوتا آخر خشبيا مغطى بالذهب، ولما بدأوا في إزالة الغطاء الذهبي عن التابوت بدأ الخوف والهلع يجتاح بعضهم عندما تذكروا أن اللعنات ستحل بهم وتذكروا المقولة المأثورة عندهم؛ والتي ينقشها كل ميت في قبره: "كل من يعتدي على سكني أو يحطم غرفة دفني أو يسحب جثتي فإن "كا" رع سوف تعاقبه وسوف لا يُورث أملاكه إلى أولاده، وسوف لا يكون قلبه سعيدا في الحياة، وسوف لا يلقى ماء في الجبانة وسيقضي على روحه إلى الأبد"!
كان تذكرهم لهذه الكلمات واقعا مريرا على نفوسهم؛ ففكروا في الانصراف، لولا أنهم تذكروا أن خلفهم أبناء جوعى! ...
